Woolston Station Signal Box Garden update

Volunteers have now completed a third raised flower/vegetable bed in the Signal Box community garden and continue to tidy the site up. Thanks to Jason at City College for the loan of tools to help us build the beds and also to Elliott Brothers for the soil, scaffolding boards and compost!

Our next working morning will be on Wednesday 21 September between 0930 and 1230 and any additional help would be very welcome.

What we plan to do next is:

  1. Start to plant up the raised beds with some bulbs and winter vegetables
  2. Prune back and manage some of the other existing raised beds around the side of the garden
  3. Continue to manage other remaining foliage.

If anyone can help with the following we would also be very grateful:

  1. We would love to have a spare wheelbarrow if there is one available locally
  2. We would willingly receive spare seeds, bulbs and plants
  3. We will have some spare bags of chippings which people are welcome to take away for a small donation
  4. We will have some old fence panels which people are welcome to take away for fire wood

So, if you fancy popping down to help us for a couple of hours feel free! Remember to bring suitable clothing, refreshments, stout footwear, gloves and light gardening equipment.

See you there!
