Young Archaeologists' Club use Romsey Station to recreate World War Two life

Recently children dressed in world war 2 clothes were spotted around Romsey Station reenacting various scenes from the war including: aircraft recognition, selection of evacuees, singing songs, making rugs, rationing and air raid warnings.The Young Archaeologists' Club really brought everyday wartime to life, to the delight of present day passengers. Romsey Station volunteers mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme

Last Friday Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership volunteers held an exhibition in Romsey Station waiting room to mark the above battle in line with other events across Europe.With the help of the Hampshire Regiment and Melchet Court School near Sherfield English, the exhibition included artefacts recovered from the battlefield, medals, local wartime postcards and letters, a list of all local soldiers

Romsey Station exhibition remembers the Battle of the Somme

Summer Sundays free rail bus link to explore the Test Valley returns!


Please find attached the information for this year’s FREE Rail bus link from Romsey Station through the Lower Test Valley area up to Stockbridge, Danebury Hill and the Museum of Army Flying.

Starting again this Sunday, 1 May, the bus will operate Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday’s through to 18 September and will be using the same timetable and operator as last year.

Railway volunteers raise over £340 for charity


Last Saturday, volunteers from the Partnership's Romsey Station group attended the Romsey Show at Broadlands as part of their ongoing commemorations of World War One.

In conjunction with Combat Stress charity the volunteers staffed a table in the World War One exhibition tent and held a raffle for teddy bears dressed in replica uniforms from the time. (The uniforms had been specially made by Romsey residents for this occasion.) In addition, wrist bands were sold, details of the proposed war memorial at Romsey Station displayed and a great deal of rail information was given out.
